Information For Authors

Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About the Journal page for the journal's section policies, as well as the Author Guidelines. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and begin the five-step process.

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as documents, photos, datasets, and others. All authors identified in the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When author(s) are satisfied that their submission meets this standard, kindly follow the checklist below to prepare your manuscript.

1. Aims and scope

The Journal of Applied Social Sciences and Humanities (JASSH) is a global, open-access, peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal. It aims to provide an international platform for the dissemination of high-quality, impactful, and empirically grounded research that addresses contemporary social, cultural, educational, and human-centred issues. The journal aims to serve as a forum for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to exchange innovative ideas that contribute to social transformation.

The JASSH encourages submitting research and review articles focused on the evidence-based solutions for societal development, human behavior, education, and cultural understanding. We accept empirical and theoretical contributions on topics related to social sciences and humanities. Being an international journal, we aim to disseminate research from all parts of the world. The key criteria for publishing research include originality and novelty, a substantial contribution that would be significant to various stakeholders, and adequate research rigor.

4. Editorial process flow

  1. On submission of a manuscript, the Editor checks ensuring that it is a fit for the aims and scope, complete, and appropriate for peer review. If the Editor-in-Chief finds the manuscript not meeting the aims and scope of the journal, or if the manuscript is not of sufficient quality, it would be desk-rejected. We aim to convey this decision within a week of the manuscript's submission.
  2. Once the Editor-in-Chief moves the manuscript to the peer review stage, two expert reviewers are invited to review it. A double-blind peer review is used during this stage. We aim to complete this process in about a month.
  3. Once the peer-review process is complete, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision, which can be one of the following:
        • Accepted
        • Accept with minor revisions
        • Accept with major revisions
        • Rejected
  1. When papers are reviewed, author(s) shall receive comments. If the paper is accepted, you may still receive comments.
  2. The review process ends when the author(s) respond appropriately to all the comments and/or make the necessary revisions.
  3. Upon acceptance of the paper, the corresponding author will receive proof to check.
  4. The proofread article will be published online.

5. Grievances and complaints

Any misconduct or questionable practice allegation must be reported to the Publishers Office during the pre or post-publication stages. The JASSH will follow the COPE’s Core Practices to decide on any ethical issue.
